Woman standing next to a giant hollyhock plant. Black and white photograph.

Reproduced with kind permission of the Gloucester Citizen newspaper

This photograph of Mrs Green with a giant hollyhock (althaea rosea) in a garden in Longhope is part of the extensive archive of photographs from the Gloucester Citizen. The photograph appeared in the newspaper in October 1961.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society website, the hollyhock can grow to 2.5 metres tall. We think this one has outdone that general tallest height!
