Coronavirus update

Gloucestershire County Council are closing Gloucestershire Archives @ the Heritage Hub from Monday 23 March until further notice, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gloucestershire Family History Society @ the Heritage Hub has also closed their service until further notice.

Gloucestershire Registration copy certificates service is also suspended.

Every effort will be made to continue offering essential services such as access to records for legal reasons.

Look out for updates from the archives on social media and online.  If you have a few minutes you might like to #ExploreYourArchiveAtHome.  You can search our collections online or browse or contribute to our online mapping resource Know Your Place

We look forward to welcoming back our customers, volunteers, partners and friends in due course.

LGBTQ history at Gloucestershire Archives

Exploring LGBTQ history in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire

Between September 2013 and March 2014 Gloucestershire Archives explored the previously hidden histories of LGBTQ residents (and ex-residents) of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

Using the link in the menu to your right, you can find out more about our pilot project to collect, preserve and share these powerful memories and stories.  You can also explore the two counties' LGBTQ histories, in our online exhibition.

If you would like to know more about our work in this area, or find out how you can help us with projects like this, please contact us.
