Coronavirus update

We're pleased to announce that from the 4th August Gloucestershire Archives will re-open to the public.  We've had to make some changes to the way we work, and you can see more details about our new arrangements on our Covid recovery page.

You will need to book your documents in advance.

At the moment Gloucestershire Family History Society remains closed.

If you're not able to make it in, have a look at Gloucestershire Heritage Hub for ideas and links to help you #ExploreYourArchiveAtHome.

Non-conformist Records Guide

A list of the key records we hold for non-conformist churches and chapels.

This is a list of the key records we hold for non-conformist churches and chapels. This includes registers of baptism, marriage and burial along with church rolls, minutes, Sunday school records and much more. The guide should be used alongside the online catalogue to find further records relating to each church.

The intention is to divide the historic county into eight volumes. Within each volume the guide will be sorted by place name (except the Gloucester and Cheltenham volumes which are sorted by denomination). The volumes which have been compiled so far are:

Volume 1:  Gloucester [558kb]Opens new window

Volume 2:  Cheltenham [468kb]Opens new window

Volume 3:  Stroud Valley [831kb]Opens new window

For more information about non-conformist records please see the introduction [258kb] to this guide. You can also find useful information in this research mini guide
