Coronavirus update

Gloucestershire County Council are closing Gloucestershire Archives @ the Heritage Hub from Monday 23 March until further notice, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gloucestershire Family History Society @ the Heritage Hub has also closed their service until further notice.

Gloucestershire Registration copy certificates service is also suspended.

Every effort will be made to continue offering essential services such as access to records for legal reasons.

Look out for updates from the archives on social media and online.  If you have a few minutes you might like to #ExploreYourArchiveAtHome.  You can search our collections online or browse or contribute to our online mapping resource Know Your Place

We look forward to welcoming back our customers, volunteers, partners and friends in due course.

The Severn

The Severn Project learning resource is a unique cross-curricular resource for use in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire schools.

The resource aims to promote creative interpretation of Gloucestershire Archives' holdings about the River Severn and the resource links with the National Curriculum to deliver teaching and learning activities focused on the main KS2 subjects.

In addition to lesson plans, the resource includes a comprehensive image bank that contains numerous images of accidents and incidents on the Severn, charts and maps of the river, bridges, fishing activities (on both the freshwater section and the estuary), places along the river banks and the Severn Bore.

Use the resource.
