Free Saturday event
Join us on Saturday 6th June, 1-3 pm at our sport themed event, 'We are having a ball...' Our talk is on the history of local football team, Gloucester AFC and there will be a display of documents relating to all sports, selected from our collections.
Then on Saturday 4th July, we are hosting the event, 'Heritage Matters', 12-4 pm featuring archivists, conservators, museum curators and heritage partners. John Putley, Community Heritage Officer at Gloucestershire Archives will be talking about heritage crafts 'we used to do' and Karen Davidson, Berkeley Castle Archivist, will be discussing her work illustrated by 15 significant documents. There will be 'behind the scenes' tours of Gloucestershire Archives, demonstrations, 'name the object' activities and films throughout the afternoon and an opportunity to taste cakes and biscuits made from recipes held in the Archives. The Heritage Hub garden will also be open.
