Open Garden event Saturday 25 June

Come and see the beautiful Heritage Hub Community Garden as we support a local Open Gardens initiative for Kingsholm.  Garden open 11am-4pm, with refreshments available and an online display of some Right Royal Gloucestershire documents.  Just turn up, no need to book

Hire the Dunrossil Centre

The Dunrossil Centre at Gloucestershire Heritage Hub is available to hire.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, there are a limited number of spaces available on-site.  However, there is a daily charge of £3 for parking.  Please purchase a token from the Main Reception upon arrival.

Gloucester has a range of alternative car parks for visitors to the city.  

The closest car parks to Gloucestershire Archives are:

Hare Lane North, Hare Lane South and Great Western Road 

 

Can you provide catering?

We do not have an in-house catering service.  However, there are several local businesses which can provide and deliver buffet platters.  However, the room hirer must make the necessary arrangements directly with the chosen caterer.

 

Can I heat up my lunch?

Yes, there is a microwave in the Dunrossil kitchen area.  This can be used, at your own risk.  Please take care when handling hot items.

 

Is milk provided for refreshments?

No. Please bring it with you on the day.  We can provide jugs of water, teabags, instant coffee and sugar.  Please indicate on the booking form what is required for your event. A small section of kitchenware including mugs, cups and saucers, glasses and basic cutlery are kept in the Dunrossil kitchen area for visitors to use.

 

Will I need to wash up before I leave?

No.  There is a dishwasher in the Dunrossil kitchen. To comply with our in-house Covid-secure arrangements, we politely ask that you do not hand-wash any items and leave them to dry on the draining board.  Instead, please place all used items in the dishwasher.  We ask that you leave the facilities, as you would expect to find them – clean and tidy.  

 

Are copying facilities available on-site?

No.  If you intend to hand out worksheets during your training/event please prepare them before your visit and bring them with you.  Archive staff cannot undertake copying, on your behalf, on the day.

 

Are flips charts and pens provided?

Yes.  Please indicate when making your booking whether you require a flip chart and tell us how many are needed. We have three flip charts available. Pens are provided although if you require multiple colours, please bring these with you.

 

Can I use blu-tack to stick items on the walls?

No. However, we do have a selection of small magnets which can be used to secure papers on to the large white/wipe board in the Dunrossil Room.

 

Is there Wi-Fi on-site?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available on-site and in the Dunrossil Room via the GCC connection.  However, we are investigating an additional external connection for additional coverage.

 

Have you got an OHP (Over-Head Projector)?

No, we do not have an over-head projector.  Instead, there is an interactive screen which can be attached to a laptop for casting purposes.

 

Are leads for all types of laptop provided?

No, we can only provide a HDMI cable to link Android devices with the interactive screen.  Please indicate on the booking form if you require such a lead. 

Please note that we do not provide any other type of lead for non-Android devices, for example, Apple IBook.  Therefore, to avoid disappointment, please bring any relevant leads with you on the day and don’t forget to take them home with you!

 

Is there technical support available on the day?

No.  The room is intended to be self-service. There is not an IT technician on-site.  If staff are on-site and available during your visit, they may be able to help but please make your own arrangements prior to the day to avoid technical issues.
